Each year, thousands of the world’s leading experts participate in our projects, studies, and other advisory and convening activities to examine and assemble evidence-based findings to address some of society's toughest challenges.  In addition, the National Academies pursue a wide range of activities to strengthen the scientific, engineering, and medical fields and their capacity to contribute to human welfare. Our rigorous process for producing independent, objective reports that present the evidence-based consensus is considered by many as the gold standard.
